Wind, rain and romance on the beach (and a photobombing doggo)

Naldo and Savannah declared their love for each other in front of a few select friends and family on the 15th of October 2022. This beautiful, intimate wedding took place in Grootbrak River, Western Cape.

We all know it starts with the dress. Savannah opted for a soft, blush pink ballgown with beautiful pearl embellishments, and of course she had a pair of fancy pants to match for the party thanks to Kimo, an actual fairy-godmother of a dressmaker.

The I do's were shared in a small church; Searle's Memorial Church, just across the road from Westbank Manor Guesthouse. The Searle family stayed in Westbank Manor and built the church to commemorate all that God had done for them. Steeped in history, this little town provided the most breathtaking backdrop for Savannah and Naldo's special day.

It drizzled the entire day and the wind was relentless, stopping only for a very short moment, allowing us to capture their first moments as Mr. and Mrs. Steyn.

We headed for the beach and the grey overcast sky and wind allowed for some beautiful, moody, blue-hour photographs, and some photobombing by a curious furry friend.

We ended off the wedding in the vast green gardens of the Westbank Manor Guesthouse under a white tent decorated with the most beautiful greenery and white flower arrangements by All Flowers Mosselbay, all the fairy lights you can think of, eclectic, vintage furniture, Persian carpets and the most beautiful mismatched decor by Fancy Functions. An actual dream fairytale-garden.

The food was heaven. Food-truck Heaven thanks to a friend of the couple that did this one and only wedding for them, Anton from Le Grange Foods.

The entire day felt like we were stepping through time into another era, lived many years ago.

Our hearts were so full after this timeless wedding and we hope to have the opportunity to capture more special memories in the Western Cape.

Side note from Alri: Naldo is my brother. I was not permitted to "work" ie. shoot their wedding. These photos are all solo Gen with me just tagging along for the fun. It made all of it so incredibly special and makes these photos even more sentimental to myself and my family.
